QUALIFICATION(S): WORK EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must qualify for position based on overall CSS requirements in at least one of the options
listed:
o Qualified addiction professional;
o Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from a college or university included in the U.S.
Department of Education’s database of accredited schools at http:/ope.ed.gov/accreditation;
o Any four-year degree or combination of higher education and qualifying experience;
o Four years of qualifying experience; or
o Associate of Applied Science in Behavioral Health Support degree as designated by the Department of Mental Health.

As a School-Based Community Support Specialist, you’ll partner with educators, families, and students to promote resilience, access resources, and improve mental health outcomes right where they’re needed most.

- Values a holistic, strengths-based approach to behavioral health and student success
Key Responsibilities
- Acting as a liaison between the school, families, and behavioral health services
- Supporting students with individualized, goal-oriented behavioral health services
- Providing education, coaching, and skill-building to students, families, and school staff
- Collaborating with school teams and other professionals to advocate for student needs
- Assisting families in navigating and accessing resources in the community
- Completing wellness plans, documentation, and assessments in accordance with agency standards
- Helping students and families build natural support systems and long-term resilience
- Driving to school and community locations to provide services as needed
Requirements, Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
High School/GED required- Associates or bachelor’s degree in a human service related field preferred

- Qualifying experience must include delivery of service to individuals with mental illness,
- A valid driver's license and agency established minimum automobile coverage required
