Dietary Services & Environmental Services Manager
Job Overview
Norwood Nursing Home is seeking an experienced and compassionate Dietary & Environmental Services Manager to lead the home's Nutrition, Housekeeping, Laundry, and Environmental Services programs. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, Ontario Regulation 246/22, Public Health requirements, infection prevention and control standards, and organizational policies while promoting a safe, clean, and resident-centered environment.
The Dietary & Environmental Services Manager is responsible for the planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation of all nutrition and environmental support services within the home, ensuring high-quality resident care, satisfaction, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily dietary operations, including meal service, menu implementation, and resident dining experience
- Ensure compliance with provincial long term care standards, public health regulations, and food safety requirements
- Collaborate with Registered Dietitian to support resident nutritional needs and special diets
- Monitor food quality, temperature,portion control, sanitation, and safe food handling practices
- Manage dietary staff scheduling, training, performance evaluations, and coaching
- Maintain inventory control, ordering, and budget management for dietary supplies and food services
- Participate in care conferences and interdisciplinary team meetings as required
- Oversee housekeeping and laundry operations to maintain and a clean, safe, and comfortable environment
- Ensure infection prevention and control (IPAC) practices are followed
- Conduct regular environmental inspections and quality assurance audits
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards and emergency preparedness proedures
- Support outbreak management protocols and enhanced cleaning procedures when required

Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Food Service Management, Nutrition Management, Environmental Services, or related field
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) designation or equivalent preferred
- Member in good standing with professional association where applicable
- Minimum (2-5) years of leadership experience in long-term care, retirement, or healthcare settings
- Knowledge of long-term care legislation, infection prevention and control standards, and food safety regulations
- Food Handler Certification required
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Experience with staff supervision, scheduling, budgeting, and quality improvement initiatives
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems
