Environmental Health Officer (Grade I)
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Environmental Health Officer (Grade I) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental health standards, conducting inspections, and promoting public health initiatives. Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of food establishments, water sources, and public spaces to ensure adherence to environmental health regulations.
- Investigate reports of environmental hazards or health concerns raised by the public or other agencies.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting inspection findings, violations, and recommended corrective actions.
- Collaborate with local authorities and community organisations to promote health and safety initiatives.
- Provide advice and guidance to businesses and the general public on best practices for environmental health compliance.
- Assist in outbreak investigations by collecting samples, analysing data, and implementing control measures.
- Participate in educational programmes aimed at raising awareness of environmental health issues within the community.
Requirements
- Relevant qualification in environmental health or a related field recognised by the appropriate regulatory body.
- First aid certification is desirable but not essential; training may be provided.
- Proven ability in report writing with clear, accurate documentation skills.
- Experience in root cause analysis to identify underlying issues contributing to environmental health problems.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple inspections and investigations efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, suitable for liaising with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
