Our team of environmental professionals provides permitting, compliance, siting, and construction support services for utility-scale solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transmission infrastructure, and other renewable energy development projects.

About the Role
The Environmental Inspector will provide environmental compliance oversight during construction and implementation of renewable energy projects.
Responsibilities may include:
- Lead and coordinate environmental inspection activities for energy construction projects, which include but are not limited to, utility-scale solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transmission lines, substations, and related infrastructure.
- Assist Environmental Inspectors and review daily inspection reports for quality, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with environmental permits, regulatory requirements, and project-specific environmental commitments.
- Verify proper installation, maintenance, and effectiveness of erosion and sediment control measures, stormwater BMPs, environmental exclusion zones, and other environmental protection measures.
- Conduct environmental compliance inspections and document findings through daily, weekly, and incident reporting.
- Coordinate with project managers, construction contractors, landowners, agency representatives, and client stakeholders regarding environmental compliance matters.
- Assist with implementation of environmental mitigation measures related to wetlands, waterways, protected species, cultural resources, and sensitive habitats.
- Utilize GPS equipment, GIS mapping tools, aerial imagery, construction plans, and topographic maps to support field inspections and reporting.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to all company and client safety requirements.
- Identify potential environmental risks and proactively recommend corrective actions to maintain compliance and minimize project impacts.
Experience & Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 5+years of environmental inspection, environmental compliance, construction compliance or environmental consulting experience supporting large-scale construction projects.
- Strong understanding of environmental compliance requirements, erosion and sediment control practices, and construction BMP implementation.
- Experience inspecting rights-of-way, access roads, transmission corridors, substations, or associated infrastructure.
- Familiarity with environmental permitting requirements under federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ability to work independently in remote field environments and challenging terrain.
- Experience operating or traveling in four-wheel-drive vehicles, UTVs, or ATVs where project conditions require.
- Strong technical writing, documentation, and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass client-required background checks and site-specific safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Natural Resources, Environmental Engineering, or a related field; equivalent field experience may be considered.
- Experience supporting utility-scale solar, battery storage, wind energy, transmission, or other renewable energy development projects.
- Knowledge of Clean Water Act compliance, stormwater permitting, and wetland protection requirements.
- Experience with agricultural mitigation plans, drainage systems, and land restoration monitoring.
- Familiarity with GIS platforms, mobile data collection applications, and GPS field equipment.
- OSHA 10, OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, or similar safety certifications.
Travel Requirements
This position will require significant travel and extended field assignments throughout the United States. Project assignments may include overnight travel and work in remote locations.

Compensation and Benefits
This is an hourly based position. Final compensation will be based on factors such as experience, skills, certifications, project requirements, geographic location, and market conditions. Depending on the project assignment, employees may also be eligible for enhanced project-specific pay rates where applicable.
