Energy Renewal Partners (ERP) is seeking qualified Environmental Scientists (Natural Resources) for future renewable energy project opportunities throughout the United States.
At ERP, we partner with developers, utilities, landowners, and regulatory agencies to advance renewable energy projects that support a sustainable energy future. Our team of environmental professionals provides permitting, compliance, siting, and environmental consulting services for utility-scale solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transmission infrastructure, and other energy projects.

About the Role
The Environmental Scientist will support permitting, planning, siting, regulatory compliance, and environmental due diligence activities associated with the development and implementation of renewable energy projects.
Responsibilities may include:
- Conduct environmental permitting and compliance reviews for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
- Complete wetland and stream delineations and perform field investigations in diverse and challenging environmental conditions.
- Prepare Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) for large-scale renewable energy developments.
- Characterize vegetation communities and evaluate habitat suitability for threatened, endangered, and other species of concern.
- Coordinate with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies regarding permitting requirements and environmental compliance obligations.
- Prepare, review, and edit technical reports, permit applications, environmental assessments, and support documentation.
- Support environmental planning, siting, and due diligence efforts during project development.
- Assist with preparation and submission of permit applications to regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
- Design and implement field surveys and studies related to biological resources, avian resources, wetlands, cultural resources, and other environmental considerations.
- Support environmental fatal flaws and constraint analyses to identify permitting and development risks.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to company and client safety requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, environmental specialists, clients, and regulatory agencies throughout project lifecycles.
Experience & Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, Environmental Planning, or a related field.
- 3-5+ years of environmental consulting, permitting, natural resources, or environmental compliance experience.
- Working knowledge of the Clean Water Act and wetland/stream delineation methodologies.
- Understanding of the Endangered Species Act and its application to renewable energy development projects.
- Experience conducting wetland delineations, protected species habitat assessments, environmental site assessments, and/or environmental compliance inspections.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Demonstrated planning, problem-solving, and project implementation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with coworkers, clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in both office and field environments.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass client-required background checks and site-specific safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting utility-scale solar, battery storage, wind energy, transmission, or other renewable energy projects.
- Experience preparing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs).
- Experience conducting environmental fatal flaw and constraint analyses.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local permitting processes.
- Experience conducting biological, avian, wetland, or cultural resource field surveys.
- ArcGIS, GIS mapping, or spatial analysis experience.
- Knowledge of NEPA, Section 404 permitting, stormwater compliance, or related environmental regulations.
- OSHA 10, OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, or similar safety certifications.
Travel Requirements
This position will require significant travel and extended field assignments throughout the United States. Project assignments may include overnight travel and work in remote locations. Candidates must be comfortable conducting field investigations in remote locations and under varying environmental conditions.

Compensation and Benefits
This is an hourly based position. Final compensation will be based on factors such as experience, education, geographic location, project requirements, certifications, and market conditions.
