Environmental Specialist
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Environmental Specialist (Construction) - Cubao, Quezon City
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Specialist to manage and ensure environmental compliance for our construction projects in the Cubao area of Quezon City. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in implementing environmental management systems on construction sites, a thorough knowledge of Philippine environmental laws, and relevant professional certifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance & Monitoring:
- Ensure strict compliance with the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) conditions and other relevant environmental laws and regulations (e.g., DENR, EMB, LGU requirements).
- Develop, implement, and monitor the Construction Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan (CEMMP).
- Conduct regular site inspections and internal environmental audits (daily/weekly) to identify potential impacts and ensure proper mitigation measures are in place.
- Oversee and coordinate regulatory-required monitoring (e.g., air quality, water quality, noise, vibration) in sensitive areas.
- Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare and submit all required environmental reports to the management and relevant government agencies (e.g., the Environmental Monitoring Fund Report).
- Maintain comprehensive records of environmental data, inspections, monitoring activities, and permit compliance.
- Assist in the application and securing of necessary environmental permits and clearances.
- Mitigation & Management:
- Implement effective measures to control project site noise, dust, erosion/siltation, and manage solid/liquid wastes according to approved plans.
- Identify significant environmental aspects and recommend immediate corrective and preventive actions for non-compliance.
- Conduct environmental awareness and training sessions for project staff and subcontractors before site deployment.
- Stakeholder Coordination:
- Serve as a point person for environmental matters with government agencies (DENR-EMB, LLDA, LGU) and other external stakeholders.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven professional experience in environmental management, preferably with at least 2-3 years in the construction or infrastructure industry in the Philippines.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of the Philippine Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) System and the ECC process.
- Familiarity with environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001) is a plus.
- Proficiency in data analysis and report preparation.
- Certifications (Mandatory/Highly Preferred):
- Pollution Control Officer (PCO) Training Course certified by the DENR-EMB.
- Construction Occupational Safety and Health (COSH) or Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) training is highly advantageous.
- Other certifications in Green Building (e.g., BERDE Professional or familiarity with LEED/EDGE) are a strong advantage.
- Skills: Excellent communication, strong problem-solving skills, highly organized, and ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams.
