The Department of Applied Social Sciences is seeking a visionary and dynamic leader to serve as our Department Head. Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, you will be at the forefront of shaping our department's future, driving academic excellence, and fostering an environment of innovation and collaboration.
Duties:
Strategic Leadership: Provide strong leadership on formulating and implementing departmental strategies and initiatives that align with our institutional vision for growth and excellence
Faculty Management: Lead, motivate and develop our academic team through effective resource allocation, recruitment, performance evaluation, and professional development initiatives. Cultivate a collaborative environment that elevates our teaching standards
Academic Programme Development and Management: Spearhead the development, management, delivery, and continuous improvement of our academic programmes, ensuring they are relevant, innovative, accessible, and aligned with the highest standards of quality and industry needs
Research and Innovation: Facilitate new research initiatives, encouraging faculty to push the boundaries of knowledge in their fields
Quality Assurance: Uphold the academic integrity of our programmes by overseeing quality assurance, accreditation, and recognition processes
Requirements:
A Master's degree (Doctorate preferred) in Social Science, Social Work or a related discipline from a recognized institution
A minimum of 8 years of experience in tertiary education, complemented by at least 5 years in social work practice
A proven track record in academic leadership, preferably within a self-financing higher education or vocational setting
Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, resource management, academic programme development, and quality assurance processes
A strong record of research, publications, and success in securing grants
Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with proficiency in both English and Chinese
