HOUSING SPECIALIST / ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNER
Located on the beautiful Monterey Bay, EMC Planning Group Inc. has been providing
award-winning planning, design, entitlement, natural resource, and CEQA/NEPA services
to both public and private clients for over 48 years. We are recognized both locally and
nationally for our work and services, which include community planning, permitting and
regulatory compliance, municipal staff support, environmental documentation, and natural
resource assessment.
We are currently seeking a Housing Specialist/Environmental Planner at the Associate or
Senior level. This position works closely with other housing-focused land use planners and
CEQA specialists to prepare complex and detailed written housing elements, as well as other
planning documents, and CEQA initial studies and environmental impact reports (EIRs).
The ideal candidate will have experience helping public agencies, community leaders, and
residents come together to resolve issues.
Required:
A bachelor’s degree in a field such as urban planning, environmental studies, or a related
discipline;
Excellent research, writing, editing, and analytical skills;
Adaptability to contribute to diverse planning projects, including environmental review;
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively;
Minimum 3 years of related professional work experience in both preparation of housing
elements and CEQA documents; and
Basic knowledge of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National
Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
Desired:
A master’s degree in a field such as urban planning, environmental studies, or a related
discipline;
Five or more years of professional relevant experience;
Previously prepared one or more Housing Elements; and
Member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).

Salary Ranges:
Associate Planner: $75,000 - $130,000
Senior Planner: $90,000 - $150,000
