Logistics, Supply Chain & Sustainability Specialist
Morning Import is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Logistics, Supply Chain & Sustainability Specialist to join our growing organization. About the Role Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will oversee our supply chain operations, manage logistics and Central Production Kitchen functions, support our sustainability initiatives, and contribute to importation and sales development activities. You will be a key operational backbone of the company, ensuring that the right products are in the right place at the right time — efficiently, sustainably, and cost-effectively.
Responsibilities
Logistics
- Track and oversee vehicle maintenance and fleet readiness
- Manage Central Production Kitchen and packaging inventory, maintaining an accurate and up-to-date database
- Optimize stock rotation, value of goods, and storage conditions
- Source and order supplies from vendors based on departmental needs, balancing cost and availability
- Dispatch orders between departments once received on site
Supply Chain & Sustainability
- Coordinate availability and allocation of materials, supplies, and finished products
- Organize and schedule shipment of goods within the Florida distribution area
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce the company's carbon footprint, enhance energy efficiency, and minimize waste throughout the supply chain
- Track and report on ESG metrics to support the organization's sustainability goals
Importation & Sales Development
- Develop and grow a Midwest client database for flour distribution, targeting bakeries and suppliers
- Facilitate moving solutions for companies and individuals between Chicago and France
Analytics & Systems Development
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs, production time, and operational inefficiencies, and recommend improvements
- Maintain accurate records of ingredient purchases and price tracking
- Prepare reports and present project plans, progress, and results to leadership
- Analyze forecasts and anticipate demand from the Central Production Kitchen to ensure supply readiness
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Work experience in logistics, supply chain, or purchasing strongly preferred
- Import/export experience preferred
- Extensive knowledge of acquisitions and distribution
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar software
- Proficiency in SQL or similar data query languages
- Familiarity with logistics or supply chain management software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to make sound inventory judgments
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Valid driver's license required with ability to drive vans and trucks
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 55 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, and navigate a Central Production Kitchen environment for extended periods
- Ability to work at a desk and on a computer for prolonged periods
Schedule
- Full-Time
- On-site, Chicago area
- Monday to Friday (with occasional flexibility based on operational needs)
