Marketing Specialist
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Marketing Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for developing and executing innovative, multi-channel marketing strategies that amplify NAMI St. Louis’ mission, increase brand visibility, and support program and fundraising growth. The Marketing Specialist will work cross-functionally with program, development, and community partners to share powerful stories, produce engaging content, and drive community awareness, participation, and support for mental health.
ABOUT NAMI ST. LOUIS: NAMI St. Louis is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We are a local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of people living with a mental health condition. We provide no cost education and support, community outreach, advocacy, and public awareness in the St. Louis region to ensure all people living with a mental health condition, their family, and friends. Our goal is for people to find the help, hope and support they need.
HOURS: The Marketing Specialist is a full-time, hourly position. Work is somewhat flexible as needed, but the majority of the work will be Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm in the office. Please note that most events and some services occur on weekends and evenings.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY: Under the supervision of the Director of Development, the Marketing Specialist supports NAMI St. Louis’s mission by advancing the organization’s marketing, communications, and outreach efforts. This role collaborates across teams to promote programs, support development initiatives, and coordinate community outreach and events.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and manage marketing content across digital channels, including social media, email campaigns, website updates, and e-newsletters.
- Promote NAMI St. Louis programs, support groups, and educational offerings in collaboration with Program staff.
- Support marketing and communications for signature fundraising events, including NAMIWalks St. Louis, Roots of Resilience Gala, and other initiatives.
- Ensure consistent branding and messaging in alignment with NAMI National guidelines and NAMI St. Louis standards.
- Develop marketing materials such as flyers, signage, sponsorship collateral, and community outreach tools.
- Support community outreach through tabling events, partner promotions, and public awareness campaigns.
- Lead production of the quarterly newsletter and volunteer newsletter.
- Maintain website content and manage basic digital assets.
- Track and report on basic marketing metrics (email engagement, social media growth, registrations) to inform strategy and planning.
- Participate in the Programs & Marketing Committee, NAMIWalks St. Louis Committee, and Roots of Resilience Gala Committee.
- Collaborate with community partners, funders, volunteers, and the public.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Development and Executive Director.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Nonprofit experience and/or a degree in marketing, public relations, or a related field preferred.
- Availability to work occasional nights and weekends.
- Experience with WordPress, Canva, Hootsuite, Microsoft Office, Constant Contact, and social media platforms preferred.
- Demonstrated passion for NAMI St. Louis’s mission and mental health advocacy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Self-starter who works well both independently and as part of a team.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail, time management, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work professionally and respectfully with diverse populations, including individuals living with mental health conditions, their families, volunteers, donors, staff, committees, and Board members, while handling sensitive information with discretion and care.
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
